For year-round success, install your greenhouse on a level, stable surface with access to at least 6 hours of direct winter sunlight. Choose a site with good drainage, proximity to water and electricity, and minimal shade from buildings or trees.
Permit requirements vary by location. In many areas, structures under 120 sq. ft. that are not permanently fixed do not require a permit. If needed, we provide stamped engineering drawings to support your application. Check out our Help Center for more information.
A level wood or concrete base is ideal:
Wood Foundation: Easy DIY, flexible for future relocation. Typically lasts around 15 years depending on climate. Larger greenhouses require larger timbers.
Concrete Base: Permanent, long-lasting, low maintenance.
Bricks and mason blocks are not recommended due to shifting and cracking.

Gravel + Pavers: Affordable, easy to clean, popular for DIYers.
Concrete Slab: Durable and easy to clean, ideal for decorative spaces and long lasting.
Bricks and Tiles: Good mid-range option using stamped sand as a base.
Not recommended: Bare Soil due to risk of disease and infestation.
