Planning a Greenhouse This Year? Current Pricing Is Available only until March 1st.
Not every greenhouse fits neatly into a rectangle. Some of our most successful and inspiring greenhouse projects are the ones that break the mold entirely! Over our 75-year history, these are the projects that stand out in our minds.
Over the years, our customers have requested Irregular shaped greenhouses that are fully custom to respond to challenging sites, architectural constraints, or bold design ideas like the 20-foot pyramid greenhouse in Texas.
At BC Greenhouse Builders, custom greenhouses in unique or irregular shapes are one of our specialties and a point of pride. Very few manufacturers have the design expertise, engineering coordination, and fabrication capabilities needed to bring these projects to life successfully.
An irregular shaped greenhouse is any greenhouse that moves beyond a standard rectangular footprint.
These projects are intentionally custom and may include:
Irregular designs are often the best solution when working with complex or constrained properties, including:
Custom footprints allow the greenhouse to work around immovable site conditions while maintaining structural integrity:
Jogged foundations are one of the most common techniques used in irregular shaped greenhouse projects.
A jogged foundation intentionally changes direction, elevation, or footprint to adapt to site constraints. This allows the greenhouse structure to:
Not all irregular shaped greenhouses require jogged foundations, but many rely on them as part of the overall solution.
Irregular shaped greenhouses are never modified after installation. They are designed to work within an existing footprint.
Our process includes:
Because each project is custom, precision is needed at every stage.
Costs vary depending on complexity, but irregular designs often save time and money overall by:
Most clients choose an irregular shaped greenhouse because it makes the project possible, not because it is the simplest option.
Within practical engineering and site constraints, yes. If the site can be accurately measured and the design properly coordinated, highly customized shapes are achievable.
Yes. Snow, wind, and environmental loads are addressed during the design phase based on site-specific conditions.
BC Greenhouse Builders provides the greenhouse design and foundation specifications. Foundations are typically built by a local contractor familiar with permitting and site conditions.
Absolutely. Irregular shaped greenhouses are commonly used for private residences, schools, gardens, and architect-led projects.
Irregular shaped greenhouses are where experience matters most.
If your property or design vision does not fit a standard greenhouse footprint, an irregular shaped greenhouse may be the right solution.

Potential customers may be interested in the following: I am retired with a very bad back and a twice broken collarbone that restricts the height I can reach with my right arm. I put the greenhouse up by myself with the help of three ladders and a bunch of bungee cords. It took six days including the time to re-do the base but a day and half of that was waiting for you to open to get information. So four and a half days for one person. We are very happy with the greenhouse.

When selecting a site for your foundation, choose a flat, level surface where your greenhouse can be easily installed, stable and secure. Locate your greenhouse close to power and water, while also considering water drainage and easy access. Try to locate the greenhouse so that 6 hours of sunlight is available during winter months. The rules for the permit process depends on your municipality but generally speaking, a structure less than 120 square feet that is not considered permanent does not require a permit. We are able to provide engineered shop drawings to secure the required permits, if necessary. For more information, please visit https://info.bcgreenhouses.com/en-ca/greenhousepermit
